Our Approach To ESG

The market is shifting towards a greater need for boards, executives and leaders to understand and act on ESG. Drawing from our divisions and expertise across the business, Apricot works with leaders to help them lead ESG change.

Apricot Consulting's approach to ESG leverages the United Nations World Economic Forum (WEF) universal ESG framework. WEF Stakeholder Capitalism Metrics is built around a core set of 21 ESG metrics and a set of 34 expanded metrics as defined by WEF in 2020. This universal ESG framework is deliberately based on existing standards bringing greater comparability, accessibility, clarity, and consistency to reporting ESG disclosures.

The metrics have been organised into four pillars, Principles of Governance, Planet, People and Prosperity – which are aligned with the essential elements of the SDG’s.

  • Modern slavery is a term used to describe serious exploitation. It does not include practices like substandard working conditions or underpayment of workers. These practices are also harmful and may be present in some situations of modern slavery.

Modern slavery can occur in every industry and sector and has severe consequences for victims. Modern slavery also distorts global markets, undercuts responsible business, and can pose significant legal and reputational risks to entities.

Apricot assists its clients in preparing modern slavery statements detailing the companies’ actions to identify, assess, and address modern slavery risks in their operations and global supply chains. We support with strategy, compliance, communication, and supply chain assessment.

  • Design strategic agility into your operating model and team culture. At the centre of every ESG program is change management so leaders can overcome challenges and start to embed ESG practices throughout their organisations that create long term sustainable and inclusive value.

  • We work with our corporate clients to build mutually beneficial partnerships with social enterprises and/or community based organisations. Our focus is finding a strategic fit that enables all parties to leverage their collective expertise and resources, making a positive impact on the economic and social conditions of the communities in which they operate and in the lives of their employees.

Our approach is intentional in nature and based on the Shared Value model first touted by Michael Porter and Mark Kramer in 2011. We work to find win-win social impact programs that create opportunity, encourage innovation and build competitive advantage. Shared Value business strategies are designed to solve social needs profitably, sharing the value that is created from a partnership. It is about the interconnectedness of the commercial value of doing business and the societal value of doing business. Our point of difference is that while CSR is about using commercial profit to do good, Shared Value is looking to create profit while creating societal value.
